Overview and Course Objectives
- Identify the social, psychological, spiritual, and physical needs of the sick, aged, and injured.
- Develop a basic understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
- Identify signs and symptoms of common diseases.
- Implement basic nursing care and evaluates the need for corrective measures within the constraints of his/her job.
- Identify complications and report and record them.
- Demonstrate purposeful communication with patients, family, and healthcare team members.
- Recognize the responsibilities and limitations of the Nursing Assistant role and recognize the role of other health team members in establishing and maintaining a cooperative relationship.
- Utilize the knowledge and skills obtained at the first level of nursing as preparation or upward mobility for continued professional growth.
- Meet the eligibility requirements of the State Department of Health Services to take the Nursing Assistant Certification Examination.
- At the conclusion of the course, the students can take the state CNA competency exam, preparing them to be hired into the healthcare industry.
